Royals fans are frustrated with the MLB Blackout

Following the 2014 season, Major League Baseball implemented a blackout rule to encourage fans to go to games instead of watching them at home. While Major League Baseball  is trying to get fans through the gates, they certainly aren't growing the game but hurting it and hurting it badly. While many people are in favor of the streaming services like YouTube TV, Peacock and others, there are always downsides to these types of streaming services including not being able to watch your local MLB teams.. According to vivaelbirdos.com: "It’s important to understand that in MLB, teams act much more as independent businesses than they do in most other sports. So while the league signs national broadcast deals for playoff games, as well as a few weekly games on ESPN, MLB Network, etc., teams are left on their own to negotiate broadcast rights for the bulk of their regular season games.”  Unlike Sporting Kansas City, the Royals aren't able to end their agreement with Bally Sports until the year 2032. Bally Sports’ slogan, "The Heart of the Fan", is just a bunch of rubbish because the network obviously doesn't care about the fan. The Royals must follow in Sporting Kansas City's footsteps and end the agreement with Bally Sports themselves, or Royals fans must take action into their own hands and boycott Bally Sports and only listen to the Royals games on the radio. Sporting Kansas City in 2022 was able to come to an agreement with 38 The Spot. You don't even need cable or a streaming service to watch games on 38 The Spot but just an antenna to watch all 26 locally televised matches. Fans can even watch all the non-nationally televised games too. Following Sporting Kansas City's agreement with 38 The Spot, the team released the following statement: “We have listened to our fans voice their desire for a modernized broadcast solution that ensures Sporting KC matches are more easily available to view than ever before,” said Sporting Kansas City President and CEO Jake Reid. “Broadcasts are such a critical component of our club and we’re excited to not only significantly expand their reach but also significantly enhance the viewing experience through our streams and our partnership with 38 The Spot.” Royals fans must take action against Major League Baseball and Bally Sports and end the MLB blackout, so fans can get back to watching Royals’ games hassle free. Only time will tell if Major League Baseball and the Royals listen to the fans' frustrations and get their shenanigans under control.
